Exam Dates

Q. When was the SSC CHSL (10+2) 2016 notification released and when is its closing date?

Ans. The notification was uploaded in the official website of Staff Selection Commission on 08.10.2016. Candidates can apply for it till 07.11.2016 (5.00 PM).

Q. When is exam going to be held?

Ans. Computer Based Examination (Tier-I) will be taken in two different dates i.e.  07.01.2017 and 05.02.2017. Date of Tier-II (Descriptive Paper) is 09.04.2017.

Application

Q. How can I apply for SSC CHSL?

Ans. You can apply online only. Online application is available from 08.10.2016 to 07.11.2016 (5.00PM). You can use your debit cards to for the payment or if you do not have a debit card you can visit to get challan from nearby SBI branch. You must get challan before 4-11-2016 (5 pm).

Q. What is the application fee?

Ans. Application fee is Rs. 100.

Posts and Pay Scales

Q. What are the different posts in SSC CHSL 2016?

Ans. This year’s notification shows vacancies for four different posts with respective number of vacancies mentioned below

  • Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant: 3281

  • LDC: 1321

  • DEO: 506

  • Court Clerks: 26

Q. What are the pay-scales for the respective posts?

Ans. The pay-scale of different posts are mentioned below:-

  • Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant PB -1(Rs. 5200-20200) Grade Pay 2400 (pre-revised)
  • Lower Division Clerk: Pay Band -1 (Rs. 5200-20200), Grade Pay Rs. 1900 (pre-revised)
  • Data Entry Operator : Pay Band-1 (Rs. 5200-20200), Grade Pay Rs. 2400 (pre-revised), Data Entry Operator : Pay Band-1 (Rs. 5200-20200), Grade Pay Rs. 1900 (pre-revised)
  • Court Clerk: Pay Band -1 (Rs. 5200-20200), Grade Pay Rs. 1900 (pre-revised)

Age and Educational Qualifications

Q. What are the age limit and number of attempts permitted to write SSC CHSL?

Ans. Candidates who are in the age between 18 and 27 years (born not before 02-01-1990 and not later than 01-01-1999) can apply for SSC CHSL 10+2.

Q. What is the educational qualification?

Ans. You must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

Stages or Tiers

Q. How many stages of examination are there?

Ans. This exam is taken in three stages or Tiers

Tier-1 = It is a computer based written examination.

Tier-2 = Descriptive test

Tier-3 = Typing Test/Skill Test

Syllabus

Q. What is the syllabus of SSC CHSL?

Q. What is the syllabus of Tier 1 computer based exam?

Ans. Tier 1 examination is divided into four parts – General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. Total marks of Tier 1 exam is 200. Total duration of this test is 75 minutes in total. You will find Objective Type- Multiple choice questions only in this stage. The questions are available in both mediums – Hindi and English.

Q. Will there be negative marks or different marks for Tier 1?

Ans. There will be negative marking for incorrect answers i.e. 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

Q. What is the syllabus of Tier 2 computer based exam?

Ans. Tier-2 Paper is a completely descriptive paper that consists of 100 marks. You will be allotted one hour to complete  Tier-2 question paper. Actually this exam is taken to check your writing skills. You will given an essay to write in 200-250 words. Letter writing is also included in the syllabus. You will have to write a letter in 150-200 words.

Q. Is there any minimum qualifying marks for Tier -2 paper?

Ans. Yes. Minimum qualifying marks for Tier 2 paper is 33% of the total marks. Tier 2 marks will be included for preparing merit.

Q. What is the syllabus of Tier 3 ?

Ans. After the success in Tier 1 and Tier 2, you will get into Tier 3 stage. This paper is of qualifying nature where your computer typing speed will be tested.

  1. secondary board exam roll number(10th board exam roll number):?????????. what shud i indicate in this section i.e. either inter(1st&2nd) roll no. or 10th roll no.???
